I really would like to quit smoking. I know there are so many reasons why I should, physically and financially. I **** the smell of smoke on my clothes, in my car, etc. and I can’t stand when other people smoke around me. My only obstacle is that I actually really, really enjoy having a cigarette, and that keeps me from going through with trying to quit. Is there anyone else out there who really liked smoking who was able to quit successfully, and if so, how did you do it?

I want to quit, but I work in a restaurant and if I get a spare second in all the chaos all I can think about is a cigarette. I thought about accupuncure, it worked for my step-mom, but it’s expensive. I’m open to anything.

He used to be the hard core smoker type, and then he quit since I have known him. Every once in a while when he’s really stressed out or pissed off or just “feels like it” he’ll have a cigarette (his roommates and all their friends also smoke). I am SUPER anti-smoking, and he knows it. Even when he doesn’t tell me, I can smell it on him when he’s been smoking and I call him on it. Doesn’t smoking just one or two cigarettes just make him want to smoke that much more? Should I even bother talking to him about it since he already knows it’s disappointing me? Advice, please.

What are some good thoughts to tell yourself when you gotta put a cigarette down? What can you do instead? What are some things that have helped you quit. And did you succeed?

I have been trying to quit smoking for about a year now. I have tried the patch, the gum, substituting a cigarette with a sucker or some sort of candy, everything! I live in a house with smokers, I am friends with smokers and all that fun stuff. I understand that one of the ways to help the cravings is to stay away from triggers but that is not a possibility.

Does anyone have any tricks or hints on how they quit smoking? Any and all information would be most appreciated.

Don’t try to talk me out of the cigarette, I already smoked it, well half of it anyways. Preferably only answers from those who have quit smoking or gone through what I am. I quit cold turkey by the way.

It *****. It comes and goes but I’m determined to quit but I keep thinking about smoking. It’s harder than I thought it would be. Does the craving ever go away completely?

I have been smoking cigarettes for about 3 years. I just can’t seem to quit. I **** smelling like smoke all the time. And my chest hurts sometimes. I can’t even go up a flight of stairs without feeling out of breath. I can’t stand it anymore. I’ve tried the gum and the patch, but they didn’t work. I still got headaches, and craved a cigarette SO badly. Sometimes i will quit cold turkey for about 2 days, then get stressed out, and give up and buy a pack. How dd you quit smoking???

I found out I have some small problems with my heart and my Doc wants me to slow down or quit smoking. I figure there is no point in slowing down, I should just quit. So I need some good methods to stop and not be needing something in my hands or the cravings for the cigarette.
Any Tried and True ideas?

Smokers please explain to someone who has never smoked why it is so hard to quit. I’m always trying to convince my uncle to quit but he says it is too difficult.

What makes it so hard and what does it feel like when you can’t have a cigarette and you need to smoke?
