He has been suspended from school twice for smoking which also lead to an expulsion.I had to put him in a private school. He says he gets the cigarettes from friends or buys them from the store himself.I’m so disappointed in his refusal to get on the right road.I search his pockets & room each time I see him.He sneeks out the house when I’m not looking. He has no privleges left to take away. I’m so stressed out from always screaming and arguing with him.Any suggestions?

my boyfriend wants to quit smoking, he doesnt smoke much (1-3 times daily) and has been smoking off and on for about three years. He says that he smokes after a long day or when hes bored and starts thinking about it. He knows that I don’t like it when he smokes and his pack of cigarettes is in my posession so he has to ask me when he wants one, and i feel bad saying no… do you have any ideas to help?

I smoke about 6 cigarettes a day and I want to quit. I know that’s not a lot, but I **** everything about it. Any thoughts? Should I try cold turkey and just **** up the side effects? I’ve tried before but unsuccessfull. Any thoughts welcome, but please no bashing. Thanks!

I don’t really crave a cigarette, but I still think about them every day. I have dreams that I’m smoking too. I wake up all mad at myself until I realize it was just a dream. Has anyone had the same experience(s)? I can’t wait until I stop thinking about them completely.

How old were you when you started and when you quit? what methods did you use to quit?
I started at fifteen and I am going to be 27.I am currently still smoking and every few days I cut my cigarettes by a half,so now I am smoking two a day.

He used to be the hard core smoker type, and then he quit since I have known him. Every once in a while when he’s really stressed out or pissed off or just “feels like it” he’ll have a cigarette (his roommates and all their friends also smoke). I am SUPER anti-smoking, and he knows it. Even when he doesn’t tell me, I can smell it on him when he’s been smoking and I call him on it. Doesn’t smoking just one or two cigarettes just make him want to smoke that much more? Should I even bother talking to him about it since he already knows it’s disappointing me? Advice, please.

I am having surgery on January 9th, I literally have to completely quit tomorrow. I am on the patch, but I keep cheating and taking one or two puffs every few hours. It only totals to maybe 2 cigarettes a day, but I need to be completely smoke free to go under the anesthesia. I know its easy to say, just don’t do it, but I feel like I have no control, no willpower, no anything! I have been smoking 2 packs a day for 17 years. Do I have a chance?

He’s been smoking for 2 or 3 years and i don’t want him to have problems in the future. But he complains that quiting is too hard and he acts differently when he’s off them. He’s an intelligent hard-working guy and this should not be his future. Any ideas how I could effectively help him?
forgot — these are cigarettes and NOT weed! sorry didn’t say that before. He already quit that. And leaving him is not an option because I love him and this is his only flaw.

When someone wants to quit smoking, what would you reccommend they do? Maybe start out by cutting back or something else? (I’m curious, because my boyfriend says he wants to quit, but that he thinks it’s best he slowly cuts back on cigarettes per day.)

If you REALLY care, wouldn’t you just let them do what they love to do? Why be a jerk and steal all their cigarettes and annoy them all the time? Isn’t that worse than just letting them smoke themselves to a shortened life?
