I quit smoking about 2.5 months ago. I’m proud of it and tell people that I quit, but some people say that I’ll just pick it up again. Is it like, once an addict always an addict? Anyone know the percentage of people that quit who stay quit for life?

The obvious answer would be to quit drinking. I’m young and I’m Irish, so fat chance of that happening. Can any of you give some good advice on this? I know of a lot of people like myself who only smoke when they’re out drinking, and have no desire whatsoever to light one up at any other time. Patches and nicorette gum, etc., therefore, I think really wouldn’t apply to people like us, because we don’t desire a cigarette any other time except when we are out on night on the town. So how can people like us resist the urge to smoke once we get a few drinks in us?

like my couch, carpet, clothes…now that I’ve quit, I understand what people meant when they told me it stinks…it really, truly does, is there a way I can get the smell out? or do I have to buy new everything?
Also, I live in an appt, so painting the walls and such is kind of out of the question. on account of I rent.

I must be severely addicted because smoking weed has become a part of my everyday life to the extent that i will not go to class, work, or even to get something to eat unless i have smoked some marijuana. I feel like it is so important but when i do smoke it…it doesn’t even make me feel very good, sometimes i actually feel worse. I think i am so addicted because it just feels like a routine that i have gotten so used to…i get satisfaction out of the act of packing it and rolling it…and not much from the actual effects because i am so tolerant to it! Please give me some serious feedback from people who have quit for significant periods of time? Thanks!

I realize that most people would say to quit cold turkey.

I’ve heard so many differant kinds of ways to quit. I just want to hear what’s worked for other people. Is the patch good? What about gum? Has anyone successfully quit cold turkey? I just want some input.

I have smoked for like 7 years now and quit 3 weeks ago and have not coughed anything up. People have said that when they quit they have coughed up nasty stuff and it was clearing out their lungs but i have not coughed anything up so how do i know my lungs are cleaning themselves out?
